Tips for studying online at home for school children
The recent coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the rapid closure of many schools and colleges. All of a sudden many students are asked to study and learn from home, through online classes, daily assignments etc. For many, this will turn out to be a completely new exercise. Here, we give you a few tips for studying online at home which will help you to become more productive and efficient in your studies.
1. Create a learning space
It is important to set up a quiet and clutter-free area if you are learning from your home. Keep your desk clutter-free and put all your notebooks and stationery handy. However, don’t fill your table entirely with books and things that are not required. Reducing the clutter will help you stay focussed. Make sure that your desk is near a ventilated area and has proper lighting. Dull and dark spaces are not recommended.
2. Make a Schedule and stick to it
We are creatures of habit. With no school bell to mark children tardy, you might feel sleepy and distracted. With no fixed schedule, you might avoid your schoolwork. Finding time for studying requires proper planning. Keep a check at your daily schedule and figure out the best time to study.
3. Reduce Distractions
Video games, computer games, social media, TV our homes have a lot of distractions. Make a list of all of them and try your best to limit them when you are studying. In order to avoid online distractions, make sure you turn off the wifi or cellular service after you have downloaded your assignments. This practice can help you to stay more focussed and concentrate on your studies.
4. Use a Calendar and Code it
Using a calendar can help you stay organized and meet your deadlines on time. Avoid delaying your work and always aim to submit your assignments on time. Maintaining a calendar helps you to avoid last-minute preparations and helps to utilize your time efficiently. Colour Code your tasks every day so that you don’t miss out on anything.
5. Exercise daily
Exercise can help you think better. All work and no exercising can lead to exhaustion. If you do some exercise daily it can help you memorize and understand things faster. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety. So make sure that you take exercise breaks regularly to freshen up.
It is also important to have a clear endpoint when you complete your studies for the day. Neatly pack up your study materials at the end of the day if you can, so that you can relax properly for the evening without your books staring at you.
